If only because it's an awesome song and it's playing in my head right now (and it makes me think a little bit of Remus).

Field Commander Cohen, he was our most important spy.
Wounded in the line of duty,
parachuting acid into diplomatic cocktail parties,
urging Fidel Castro to abandon fields and castles.
Leave it all and like a man,
come back to nothing special,
such as waiting rooms and ticket lines,
silver bullet suicides,
and messianic ocean tides,
and racial roller-coaster rides
and other forms of boredom advertised as poetry.

I know you need your sleep now,
I know your life's been hard.
But many men are falling,
where you promised to stand guard.

I never asked but I heard you cast your lot along with the poor.
But then I overheard your prayer,
that you be this and nothing more
than just some grateful faithful woman's favourite singing millionaire,
the patron Saint of envy and the grocer of despair,
working for the Yankee Dollar.

I know you need your sleep now,
I know your life's been hard.
But many men are falling,
where you promised to stand guard.

Ah, lover come and lie with me, if my lover is who you are,
and be your sweetest self awhile until I ask for more, my child.
Then let the other selves be rung, yeah, let them manifest and come
till every taste is on the tongue,
till love is pierced and love is hung,
and every kind of freedom done, then oh,
oh my love, oh my love, oh my love,
oh my love, oh my love, oh my love.

So my last iPod, purchased in early 2006, was named Sirius. Unfortunately, it died about eight months ago, and I have been without portable music since that time. I'd like to get an iPod Touch with all the bells and whistles, but I just cannot afford that right now. So as a sort of interim measure, this week I got myself a refurbished green Nano. So, smaller than the last one, and green. And what did I name it? Why, "Regulus" of course!

It will be so nice to have my music in my truck again. I've loaded my "best of the 70's", "best of the 80's", Leonard Cohen, Queen, Jason Webley, Pete Seeger, and Great Big Sea playlists. I am ready to go!

This song is killing me and is clearly about Remus... )

So, I'm sorta snowed in, y'all. Meaning I am bored as hell. I was planning on posting a new chapter of A Cure for Nightmares on Wednesday, but I think that if I can make it to the library (only about four blocks away) tomorrow, I will probably post then. I keep thinking of what I would do with this story if it was "real" (ie, if I was at all bothered about plot outside the romantic storyline), and I think it would be about three times as long and enormously complicated. Well, maybe some day I will have another look at it.

Anyway, I think I am going to go sort out some hot chocolate and then watch some more Leonard Cohen in concert (that man was HOT in 1970!). Everyone else having a good day?

Title: Take This Longing
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pica_scribit
Word Count: 9204
Genre: Drama, Angst, Smut
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Explicit sex, strong language, dirty talk, jealousy, suspected infidelity, violent images, no happy ending because canon is a cruel mistress.
Timeline: April 1981
Characters: Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, Harry Potter, Unnamed Flirtatious Muggle (OC), Albus Dumbledore, Alexandre d'Argenson (OC), Amabilis (OC)
Pairing(s): Remus/Sirius, hints of Remus/OMC and Sirius/OMC
Synopsis: If Remus doesn't need him anymore, then what's the point of anything?
Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters and the Wizarding world are the sole property of J. K. Rowling. I own nothing except my own ideas, and make no profit. No copyright infringement is intended. Please don't sue me. Take This Longing lyrics are the property of Leonard Cohen.
Author's Note: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] rs_games 2010. This was a bit of a change for me. I don't usually do first person narrative, but Sirius wanted to tell you this story in his own words. For someone who hates confrontation almost as much as Remus does, I find it surprisingly easy to write snarky, angry dialogue. Lord, how I've missed writing porn!

It seems like everything is moving away from me these days. Father and Regulus are dead. We hardly ever see Andromeda and her family anymore. Peter's too busy looking after his sick mother to keep in touch. There's still James, obviously, but he's got Lily and Harry to think of now. Even the Aurors decided they didn't want me, because apparently loving you and working in law enforcement was a "conflict of interests".

I could live with all that. Sure, I'd growl and rage and shake my fist at the sky, but so long as I still had you, I could grit my teeth and get through anything the world threw at us. But if I'm losing you, too, then what have I got left, Moony? What's the point of me? Of everything I've ever done? What is there left to fight for?

Title: Menage a Trois
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pica_scribit
Word Count: 6262
Genre: Smutty, smutty smut. Also? Smut. Not quite PWP, but almost, with a helping of hurt/comfort tacked on at the end.
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Aside from it being a M/M/M threesome involving an OC? Nothing too kinky. Some French pillowtalk.
Timeline: 10 March 1981
Characters: Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Alexandre d'Argenson (OC)
Pairing(s): Remus/Sirius, Remus/Sirius/OMC
Synopsis: Remus wants something a bit different for his 21st birthday, and of course Sirius can refuse him nothing. This is what might have happened if Alexandre had had a couple more days to get to know Remus and Sirius before he and Remus went on their disasterous French mission.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters and the Wizarding world are the sole property of J. K. Rowling. I own nothing except my own ideas, and make no profit. No copyright infringement is intended. Please don't sue me.
Author's Note: This was written largely for my own perverted amusement, and does not fit with my personal canon of Remus/Sirius's continuity, but after what I did to poor Alexandre in my [livejournal.com profile] rs_games fic, I couldn't very well refuse him when he asked for this.

"Are you jealous, Padfoot?" The bastard sounded amused.

"No," Sirius said too quickly. "Why? Should I be?"

A little huffing laugh tickled his ear. "He's not planning to steal me from you, if that's what you're worried about. If you hadn't been so busy noticing him noticing me, you might've noticed him noticing you, too. Not that I could blame him."

That gave Sirius pause. "He was?"

"Mm-hmm. He wants both of us. Together."

So there was this story I started writing ages ago (probably not long after HBP came out) which was meant to explain the whole Remus/Tonks 'ship and help reconcile my puppy 'shipping brain to it. It was called The Art of Longing, and it was meant to take place starting after OotP. I had written a beginning for it, and I *thought* I had written a second part as well, from Tonks's PoV, but when I looked around, I was unable to locate it. Well, guess what? Today I came across it more of less by accident. Somehow it ended up on my external hard drive (which I did not have at the time that I wrote this story, so it's extra weird). Obviously, in light of the events in DH, a lot of the story will need to be revised and expanded, but it's definitely going to happen. Yay! I have now added it to the page linked above, and you are welcome to check it out if you so desire. Despite the fact that I hate Remus/Tonks with a virulent and fiery passion, I am *trying* to be as fair to Tonks herself as possible, and I hope to actually give her more character than Jo did. This version will only be up until I get around to the rewriting.

Tonight, I've been working on There is a War, my story about how James and Lily got together. I posted parts one and two on my webpage a while back, and tonight I've written seven pages of part three, which amount to three short scenes. There's still a lot to do, but I think I am done for tonight. I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm so pleased with how well it's going that I thought I would post the first little scene as a teaser for the section, so here it is. Incidentally, I named James's parents after my sister and her boyfriend.

Yes, I am still alive. Yes, I am still writing. Yes, I still love you guys. I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday and am feeling very slashy today, so we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I have two Leonard Cohen songs for people who are still bitter about Tonks.

What with fanfic being my primary hobby these days, and my favourite singer being Leonard Cohen, I often draw connections between the two. Listening to various LC songs put me in mind of HP characters and situations. I would love to write a series of fics inspired by Leonard Cohen songs. Maybe I should start a Leonard Cohen/Harry Potter LJ community. Here are a couple that I have really been thinking about lately:

There is a War - James & Lily )

The Future - Lucius Malfoy? )
pica_scribit: (Gryffindor - RL/SB - Survivor's Guilt)
Title: Survivor's Guilt
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pica_scribit (that's me!)
Overall Rating: Probably going to be PG-13
Section Rating: PG-13
Genre: Angst/Slash/Romance
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Summary: Prisoner of Azkaban retold from Remus Lupin's point of view.
Previous Posting: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V-1, Part V-2
Disclaimer: These guys aren't mine. But you knew that. Some of the dialogue is by J.K. Rowling because I suck at dialogue, and a few scenes overlap. The lyrics in this section are the property of Leonard Cohen, from his 1988 album, I'm Your Man. Don't sue me.

Note: I highly recommend that, if you own a copy of the album, I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen, you put it on for the second half of this section. If you don't own a copy, I strongly suggest that you go out and buy one. *plugs favourite album*

Note [from my other journal]:I am not entirely happy with this section, but I posted it anyway. I *hate* writing dialogue; it never ends up sounding like I hope it will. Also, when I have to have my characters *doing* things, I forget that my true loyalty is to what they are thinking and feeling. This entire story is going to get a critical re-working at some point, but for now, this will have to do:

Comments, praise and criticism are all ever so welcome!

Warning: Teenage boys groping and some gratuitous Leonard Cohen )
